Portraits
"Portraits" in oil
I understand human experience as vulnerable to time. I seek to portray what is fragile and fleeting. I am inspired by the sensibility of great portrait painters, such as Rembrandt and Vermeer, who employed exacting, deliberate techniques. In generating intimate portraits – whether they are nostalgic, archetypal, or surreal – I aim to enliven memory and fertilize the present.
Commissions are welcome.
Louise’s work as an oil painter encompasses a passion for portraiture, a task that has kept her busy on many commissions over the years. Before the advent of photography small oil portraits were commissioned from artists in an effort to capture the loved ones gaze. All commissions are handled with great discretion and care. A telephone interview with the artist is a necessary step as are photos and other background material. Most commissions usually take the artist 6 to 8 weeks. Follow this link for more information.
